How it works:
Stage 1: Consultation
This is a free consultation through email concerning your cover. I’ll ask a variety of questions and we’ll come to an agreement on what you’re looking for. I’ll give you my estimate of how difficult it will be to create your vision with full disclosure that I could find it will be easier or harder after I begin. You will be informed of any changes immediately and be able to make informed decisions about the direction of the project.
Stage 2: First Draft
After we’ve agreed upon the consultation, I will begin working on the project. Depending on the direction we’re taking, this could require additional time to search for a proper model. I will break it out below.
Upon acceptance of the First Draft, half the payment will be required.
Stage 2: Second Draft
Now I’ll start to apply all the filters and detailed work to get us closer to completion. At the end of this, there will only be minor tweaks required to call the book cover ‘completed’. This is going to be the mainstay of the time it takes to create the cover. Depending on the complexity, it should be done within a few days to a week at the most. I will give you regular reports on the progress. Your responsibility is to find any small, nitpicky stuff to change before the deliverable version. Anything you see that I missed, or any small additions. Note that these will be small revisions. Any major revisions should’ve been discussed in the First Draft conversation.
Major revisions at this phase will require additional work and take more time.
Stage 3: Deliverable
I will conduct the various small requests and implement them for the cover. When it is done, I will present to you a JPG image of the cover to approve. I will then give you a print ready PDF, a version for Kindle, and the Photoshop files for you to use as you see fit. I reserve the right to add your book cover to my portfolio for non commercial use.
The second half of the payment will be required before delivery of the project.

After we’ve agreed upon the consultation, I will begin working on the project. Depending on the direction we’re taking, this could require additional time to search for a proper model. I will break it out below.
- We are using 3D Art: I will prepare a model and render it in the agreed upon poses then present to you the options so you can decide which you’d like to go with. This process will take about an hour.
- We are using a Photo Stock Model: I will have to find the model in question. This unfortunately takes quite a bit of time. I will not charge for all the hours (because I’m pretty picky so you won’t have to suffer for that) but depending on how specific the model must be, I will charge for some of this time. When I find a variety of options, I will send them to you so you can pick the one you prefer.
- Additional models will take more time to procure or setup. I’ll work it out with you and will keep the prices fair.
